Denis Wilson’s Peterborough office passed their BSI QA Accreditation audit on the 20th of November.

September 2006
This year’s IHT National Golf Tournament (the Locan Cup) was won for the second year running by a team of eight IHT members from the North Western branch, (captained by our Manchester Director – Peter Blair).  The event was held at the Sprowston Manor course in Norwich where teams from 15 IHT branches participated.  Hosted by the East Anglian branch, the event was attended by the IHT President Mr Alistair Haydock.

September 2006
Denis Wilson’s Manchester Director (Peter Blair), who is also the North Western IHT branch Chairman) opened the IHT Presidential Conference.  This event was hosted in Liverpool Town Hall by the North Western Branch, attended by Lord Mayor and 200 guests drawn from the great and the good of Consulting, Contracting and Local Authority highways professionals.

Julie Capon celebrated 20 years of working at Denis Wilson on the 26th of August.  Julie joined the Company in 1986 – working for the man himself (Denis Wilson).

Denis Wilson entertained clients at the Twenty/20 Cricket match between Surrey and Sussex at the Brit Oval.

Jackie Green of Denis Wilson’s Birmingham office passed her Diploma in Noise Assessment and has been awarded a Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement.  Jackie will soon become a Member of the Institute of Acoustics.

Denis Wilson’s Bath and Birmingham offices hosted a gathering of clients at the final Bath Rugby home game of the season.

Some of Denis Wilson’s Chertsey Directors and staff attended an evening event at the Oval in support of the Surrey cricketer Martin Bicknell’s Testimonial Year. Ex-Prime Minister and MCC Member, John Major provided an entertaining speech as the guest speaker and the event was attended by a sprinkling of sporting celebrities including Rodney Marsh, the ex footballer; as opposed to Rod Marsh, the ex-cricketer! Denis Wilson’s cricketing theme was continued at Edgbaston, where Paul Hanafin, representing Denis Wilson’s Birmingham office, was invited to an Executive Showcase at the famous ground; an event which formed part of Warwickshire legend Dennis Amiss’ retirement from the Club.

The Institute of Highway Incorporated Engineers is formally responding to the Consultation Paper PPS3 this month. The IHIE has previously expressed disappointment that PPS3 does not tackle the issue of residential parking, even though ODPM commissioned a study and received its recommendations on this issue last year.

Swindon Borough Council has drawn up a shortlist of developers for a key component of the town centre development area known as ‘The Hub’. The New Swindon Company says the Hub has opportunities for new and improved shops, leisure, homes, public realm and parking. The Council’s preferred developer will be selected in March 2006.

Eureka Business Park, Kent. Denis Wilson has agreed a phasing strategy with the HA for improvement works to M20 Junction 9. This will allow the development to commence without the developer, Quadrant Estates and Trinity College Cambridge, having to commit to a large financial outlay at the beginning of the project.
